New Forum Layout Issues

Postby Taamalus » 30.11.2014, 23:39

The good
A - color scheme is readable in a light environment, very good.
B - the important thing is the content to learn CryEngine, and it's all there!!

The not so good-
a. Looks like the site is now optimized for iPhone and Android.
b. The site is not finished

Please note, I use the site for education. Half of the screen of my comp is for a book, the other is for the forum. I need to go full screen to see the menu of the forum. It’s doable, but somewhat irritating.

What is the way now to subscribe to a topic? Especially the one I made?

When I log in, I like to see that I actually am. Can’t see my name, except that someone is logged in. I have a dedicated server in my office, the logged in status could refer to anyone in my office. How do know it’s me? Imagine, three people all learning here, we need to know who is who.

When I press on Mark Board As Read, I am redirected to a error screen. I think this is an easy fix

Browser = Fire Fox 33.1.1

I can tell you are not done with this good looking forum, so there is hope. But please, don’t forget desk top users in your design - pretty please with sugar on top and all the rest.

I moved my post to a new thread, based on DGrimProductions' request on his topic, see his latest post there.

Should this topic be inappropriate, then delete it. Honestly. No harm done, I have yet to find the method to track a post. :))

I amworking on userscript that can hopefully fix some of these issues, atleast for desktop poeple, and also allow for some customization of the layout and usability.
Atm i just added a better code highlighter and a faster link to the docs.

Indeed, seems like still a lot of styling issues to be fixed. My main 'beef' is the layout. Before we were able to comment on the 'News' section, now I can't even seem to find it (aside from the general news tab on the main navigation). Plus, how do you upload an image to the gallery?, there used to be a big, bold button there.

The layout is absolutely awful in its current condition. Lots of issues with elements not displaying correctly, spacing is far to big, layouts of posts is wasting space, no way to directly go to the latest post of a topic, everything message, user profile related is broken, the layout of the reply editor is also completely fubar and there is no proper mobile layout since the forum posts aren´t aranged in a proper grid, but have pixel width in place of percentage...
And on top of that the styling is inconsistent with the other cryengine.com pages.
Whoever converted the layout did a very half-arsed job.

Well yeah although I have backups of all my uploads (others may not have any backups) , conformation of whats happening with the project database would be nice or is that asking to much

Crytek should integrate project database with download.

It's very strange that download page is just about Crysis mods.
And no project database is ****.

Mentioning the database issue once should be enough right? This is about forum layouts, not its contents

No ideas yet, except to be able to opt in/out of tracking specific posts and threads while on a given thread. Meanwhile, thanks for working on a better forum.
