Untouched (Alps) [RELEASE]

Postby atsest » 01.02.2009, 17:07

Ok I couldn't hold myself back and stared yet another project .(just a little side project, to do something new and test the engines capabilities as well my own)
All I can say about it is that i have worked on it for 2 days, and the gameplay is going to be well different(tightly under wraps for now) :P. I might release a private blank (only environment, no AI and stuff like that).

Any feedback/questions appreciated.

More information coming.

looks very promising mate

love the mountains and how well the TOD is blending with it.

please, continue!

and I suggest using rocks and not textures for the ground at the 2nd image

I like the fact that you used a large patchy snow tecture for the mountains, very creative and unique. Also it kinda looks good with no clouds although in that climate it's almost impossible for that to happen.. good beta TOD actually simulates the look of it being cold.

all in all, great start. :D

The problem is that i m using the dynamic cloud shadows feature (like in assassins creed), so there are moving shadows on the ground but no clouds.

The original pics were 4.5 MB big, each . Now they are 0.5 MB.

I must say that this is probably the most amazing looking map I've seen, it looks absolutely fantastic. Please, if you plan to release this, release a version with just the simple nature, before you add other things (like buildings). Very nicely done.

atest i watched all the tutorials for geo control but i still cant make mountains like that but sometimes i make a god height map and i want to play with it in game so i load it into the editor and its slightly too noisy for me to play on it or make anything look good so i click smooth then the whole things turns into hills.

example of some canyons.

edit: i export to height field greyscale

I always like the Exodus Pines. If you can get the clouds to appear to float on the tops of the mountains, that might look awesome! Anyway, these pix look really good, even without the clouds.
