RELEASED! - The Mutant factor

Postby McKool » 16.01.2009, 21:16

***EDIT 2.22.10****The Mutant Factor to appear in german PC Games magazine issue 2/2010!! Check the last post for a screenshot from the magazine!!

This footage shows off the "Mind Control" ability as well as the "Psychic Hunter" character.

Here is a link to the video for the new Transporter I created for the map:

Transporter Prefab with FG and FX/SFX

This is my new map "The Mutant Factor" which picks up where "Rescue Mission" leaves off.

Nomad passes out in the VTOL on the ride back from the last mission, only to wake up in an underground facility in the aftermath of a brutal battle. You find out that the infection discovered in "Rescue Mission" has found it's way back this american facility and, while Nomad seems to be infected, his body is reacting very differently. Dr. SHepherd contacts Nomad through his headset and tries to guide him out of the facility through various mutated soldiers which proves to be easier said than done. Along the way Nomad encounters various "visions" and a disembodied voice that may be his daughter gone missing 3 years prior.

This map is a mixture of solids and props to create a creepy indoor environment along the lines of F.E.A.R. and Halflife.

It features:

-New "mind control" power for Nomad made with a custom Flowgraph
-All new storyline with new characters within the Crysis universe
-All new custom voiceovers with professional actors
-Custom environments with creepy atmosphere
-Over a dozen trackview sequences
-Challenging situations
-Custom enemies made with the character editor and Photoshop
-New teleporter system made from solids, various props/textures, and a custom flowgraph

I have decided to edit this post with all of the new pics.

Well, I have stopped work on the map waiting on news about the new editor and now that it is almost here, I hope to begin again! I may take the map in a different direction that previously planned but that all depends on how quickly I pick up the new editor!!

I am very excited!

Well, I have mixed feelings about the new editor and using Crysis Wars as the base game for modding.

On the one hand: I do not think Crytek really thought through the whole "SP menu" thing - There is no Save game/Load game which is very critical to SP. It is extremely frustrating to not be able to save a game on a long level. I hope the community steps up and offers an answer soon. I have also heard that AI is not the advanced version from Warhead which sucks.

On the other hand: Crysis Wars does offer a truly free modding platform which is awesome. Also, my new level is choppy in Crysis and flies in Crysis Wars without looking any different!!! That is a very pleasant surprise!

Anyway, I started back up on this level in the new editor the other day and I have some new screenshots for you. I may be making some changes to the original design concept so stay tuned! It is still a sequel to Rescue Mission.

Enjoy!
