Re: So I made some trees - SPRUCE PACK UPDATE 2 16.1.2011

Postby the_grim » 20.01.2012, 14:43

What campaign? To my knowledge none of the Crysis games have pine or spruce trees in them, so I don't really understand which trees you would like to replace with these ones... ?(

You can always edit the Crysis or Crysis 2 levels in Sandbox and place the trees wherever you want.

Heh, just noticed this update, shame on me. The date of your last update headline is 2011 not 2012 for some reason Well, Grimmy you done all of them extremely attractive. I see his majesty CE3 provides a bit strange gray shadows on your nice fern plants in 07.01.2012 update or its an optional thingie? :puppy:

Heh my bad - forgot to change the year when copy-pasting the update text... :P

I don't really know what gray shadows you mean, mind posting a screenshot? I updated the fern normal map to be stronger in the 7.1. update.

Oh that you mean - it's the ToD, and more probably an environment probe casting a blue ambient light on the ferns. ;)

Hey Grim, nice trees. By the way, how you managed to distribute 9 million trees on your map? I am getting error on about 2 million long time ago and can't do anything (editor just crashes).

I just decided to give your trees a go in the 3.5.6 sandbox, and was impressed overall. I saw a few issues with bending, though. The birches have a sharp angle around 3' off the ground that looks awkward, and some of the branches don't bend with the trunks. I don't know if you're still developing this tree-pack, but in case you are, I captured a video to illustrate it:

UPDATE 2.9.2010

I've been making some ground plants to populate the floor of my forest, and I'll just release some of them because it seems I won't work any longer on them anyway. I've made one bunch of elder (a small ground-cover plant) and 2 variations of a common fern.

The ground cover plants and the ferns are included in the release, the round leaf plants are ordinary Crysis models. I'm planning to do a couple more variations of the elder (smaller and larger bunches), but seeing as I haven't done anything for them during the last few months, I might as well give the finished one to you guys. The fern has also been sitting on my harddrive for a while, but a few days ago I played around a bit with the model - the result is two variations of a fern plant, complete with detail bending and touch bending! ;) Kudos to nekosaur and Mr. Guybrush II for a touch bending tutorial which actually worked (unlike the official docs which lack awful many vital steps in the process).

Download the plants here, just extract the PAK file from inside the zip and drop it into your Game folder (or Yourmod\Game). Try them, and tell me what you think! ;)

I've extract the PAK file from inside the zip and drop it into Game folder but when I run Crysis are visible only original texture. Why? Thanks

Are you running the Sandbox so you can place the new tree assets?
