2011 Mod of the Year Awards via Mod DB

State of Emergency is a zombie survival mod, the whole point is to survive, grow and prosper.

Now featured in multiple news sites!

The mod will include the following and is not lmited to.
    <redoing>
  • Bro-op (CO-OP mode, it involves surviving together, still need help with this.)
  • Zombie AI that dynamically reacts to the environment (explosions, ect. I'm gonna have to put 100+ hours into this.)
  • A deep storyline that you can choose to investigate or simply try to survive
  • x detailed cities that are to scale, as well as small towns in-between them.
  • Highly optimized, we want this to run on laptops, and not just run, play.
  • Towns, you can manage them, expand them, start trade. It will be really, really cool.
  • Your palace. You own your house, the customization? Well, if you like the Saints Row customization then welcome to high school. Put boards on the windows, put plastic on them, jam them with grocery carts or blow up dolls.

The mod will support the following
  • Eyefinity/Nvidia Surround
  • Dx11
  • 27"/30" monitors
  • Optimization for laptops.

and guess what, I ain't kidding. I'm doing this, there is always a way.

The game is now in Pre-Alpha!

Re: State of Emergency Open World Zombie Survival Mod

Looks great, not sure if you should put a storyline in it but its a great idea.
Also are the zombies going to he the infected people from the crysis 2 campaign, because if they are then thats perfect!
Keep up the great work, I'd hate to see this mod discontinued.

The storyline would be recovering what happened in the past, emails, telephone calls, I'll even throw a couple of easter eggs in

thats a nice idea :)
But i suppose that you will have to edit all zombies character to make them have at least the default grunt animation ?

Indeed, I was aware of this problem but never bothered to mention it, its a very easy fix either way

Would the zombies come in rounds like in cod black ops zombies or would it be more of a continous wave?
Also would you be able to purchase or find weapons in which you could kill the zombies?
This mod will be awsome, keep working on it!

Hmm....another way is to take the animated grunts and just add ulcer-objects of the humans...need an example?

Never thought of that, very easy to do as well, thank you. I've swapped infected heads out before, as I think I said earlier, so I could use a mix of both

The map is huge, and no they wouldn't. Its basically a massive open world were every decision has a consequence, if you decide to be stupid and fire off all your guns, you'll be swarmed, its literally a zombie simulator. Theres many things to do and achieve, restore the highway routes between two major cities? Sure.
want to repair a small town and rise to leader? Sure.
Want to knock down buildings to seal yourself inside the Las Vegas strip then restore hoover dam, then live in Vegas? Sure.

It'll take a long time but sure why not :D

Anyways, what I was also thinking is have a storyline mode featuring two stories then let the player go fully sandbox after that

Suggest stuff and I'll tweak it to your likings

Hope it'll be like Dead Island but with graphics :P
Or maybe your gonna do it 27 days later style?

You should think about adding points in the map where you'll find a survivor that you'll have to save and then the guy will follow you as a companion (:

Thinking about this makes me wanna make a test.

Dead Island is a step in the right direction but, it had far too many rpg elements and it ended up killing a lot of the game, Hmmm I was thinking if the player chooses to make a colony he has to do missions(Food, expansion, ect), but a companion, that's more bro-opy. However, since I can see people wanting companions I will add that to my to-do list

Not that i really want companions, but it's a way to let players "like" the game and it also adds more playtime as the player may want to keep him alive, or you can bring him to the safety of your town.

I made this small sketch in cryengine2(crysis1) to let you see how easy it is to do(if you don't know already)

Just copy it into crysis 2(i unfortunately cannot find game:localplayer in crysis2 so i cant do it there)
