Well, that screen I linked to is probably one of the worst areas performance-wise since it's basically a big open field. I use a lot of vis-areas for interiors and occlusion areas for the big buildings. I'd say on average, the DP is more like 5000-6000...still high according to Crytek's documentation, but I don't think 2000 is a realistic number for a map that is completely open. When you're dealing with a sandbox, layer switches don't work so well, so I'm limited to tweaking object view-distance ratios and setting up terrain occlusion. It all makes for an interesting balancing act, to say the least.
