New Showcase Guidelines: "Achieved with CRYENGINE"

Postby Cry-Angela » 26.05.2015, 14:15

Hello everyone,

Today marks the beginning of a new era for our users. We’re introducing “Achieved with CRYENGINE”, a blank space for you to showcase the work you’re most proud of, and we will release it from the confines of the forums and into the open world!

In an effort to add to the creative outlets available for our community, we’re introducing a way to showcase users’ work with CRYENGINE outside of the forums. “Achieved with CRYENGINE” is our motto, and we want it to be yours as well.

Over the years of browsing the forums, we have seen what our users can do with CRYENGINE; from all the screenshots and videos of your levels, to assets and games, we are consistently blown away by the incredible talent in our community. With that in mind, we wanted to make sure you all have a proper platform and opportunity to show that talent off!

Below you will find the “Achieved with CRYENGINE” tag for users to add to their images/videos, and an example of how it should look like. If you want your work to be considered for publication in our Social Media, blog and website, you’ll need to add the tag and follow one simple rule: keep a distance of 46px between the tag and the edge of the image.

The different Showcase galleries will remain the same, and the forum rules and prerequisites for new threads will stand for our new initiative as well. We want to keep things simple and clean, so start posting!

All the best,
The CRYENGINE Team

Nice, although i wished the tag wouldn't come in form of a big rectangle that actually takes to much space off the image and draws the eyes off the actual art imo.
Something more subtle like a watermark would be more preferable, if possible.

Agree it's kinda blocky.

I'll think something like this would be better:

Yes indeed.
A watermark is the way to go.
Just like in the Facebook post for this with the Ryse screenshot.
Hopefully they can change it to that.

I agree with you guys.. a watermark with transparency, maybe .png format would be nice. sorry for that discussion, I'm sure there have been many drafts before publishing the article ^^

EDIT: And of course, I'm sorry that I forgot to write.. Nice decision to renew the showcase guidelines! :)

Original tag looks fine to me no complaints here I welcome the extra exposure this could bring to ones work & the Cryengine in general :)

Hi everyone!

Just to clarify a couple of things. We did try several iterations of the tag; we tried from different sizes to colors. This is the version that made more sense to us and the artist. One of the problems we encountered with the watermark is that depending on the background image, we would need to provide a black and a white tag. It made no sense to us to give out different color tags when we're trying to be consistent.

We're encouraging you to give this tag a try for now, because it will let us know you're interested in showcasing your talent. You're free to use other tags/watermarks, but the one we're providing is our only way to know you're allowing us to post it outside of the forums.

Hope that makes things more clear :)

Works for me Angela.
I was wondering if I can add other logos in the image - such as my game's name - like this -

How else can people know which game it is if you don't brand it properly? :)

Just though I'd check. :)

In the sample shot there was no mention it was from Ryse.
Thanks so much for the reply!

Why not use the Showcase section for this?
