The 3d directional waves that were present andremoved in Ce2 are back and working in ce3?

Is the engine large alloweing Open world streaming sand till what sizes?

3. No. There is no dx11 support in the free sdk yet.
2.Read through this thread. It should answer that question. viewtopic.php?f=314&t=74175

This wasn't exactly the question though; Cryengine 3 (Crysis 2 patch 1.9 build) does support DX11 and tessellation.

If you mean terrain layer materials, the limit is still 15. I'm not sure if different terrain tiles allow different materials (usually in 3D engines the amount of materials is limited to terrain chunks), in any case I don't know how to do it.
Hpw bout the directional waves?
Haven't looked whether they're still present, I wouldn't hold my breath about it.

According to cwright, 64km x 64km - about 4096 km² in total area.

15 layers is already pretty huge number comparing to other engines. It eats a lot memory. In other engines it is recommended to use 4 layers but it is true that you can use more than 1 terrain in scene. However it would be awesome to have terrain system like ID Tech 5 with gazilions layers:D
