Thanks guys :D

I'm not a student >.>

Anyway, after looking through the rest of Masaki Kawase's presentations on his site, I found this one.

It has information on realistic bokeh in games. Unfortunately, it's not in english or french (my known languages), so I can't make out more than the information that the images convey. :(

I'm pretty sure you just have an infinite knowledge of shaders in ce2. The light streaks re my favorite. I see that your lens flare is complete. Will this be available for download? Or will you just make an all in one package or something?

btw I have no idea what vignetting is but i like it :)

It's most likely going to be an all-in-one pack with a little App to customize it. :D

Thanks to fiddling in the editor, I found a solution to my overly-blurred lens streaks. As I said in extreme excitement here, I found a command that displays all the render targets to the screen as well as only those in use. Thanks to this, I found a perfect balanced sampler between too blurry and too sharp, as well as a few HDR targets I can use to make things other than glow to cause streaks (such as bright specular shines on water and such). Tweaking it now.

To quote Barney from Half-Life 2: "Yeah! You and me both, kid!"

Not only is this engine still leading the pack in terms of real time graphics, but it's now about to get even more impressive thanks to our friend Xzero. I mean, with all those new effects in place, I'll probably be gobsmacked all over again. Like I was when I first played through Crysis more than two (!!!) years ago.

Just wondering would it be possible to create a good dof for gaming purposes or is it always too blurry? Just thought with your post you could tone it down to only certain targets.

It's extremely easy to make the dof less blurry. :)

Anyway, here's the updated streaks.

Now that's what I call sexy! Do these streaks apply to sun-reflecions on the water as well. Cause that would look... amazing.

Keep up the good work!

I've been trying but it's difficult without ruining the sun.

Right now it applies to everything that glows. This includes lens flares.

Xzero... you are exciting me. :D

Will these all be released and fully compatible with DX10 and 9?

Also, I hope crytek sees what you are doing here and take some hints for Crysis 2 and what can probably done in CE3.

I might be mistaken, but I think these effects are DX10 based. I think he mentioned that certain filters or shaders have to be active for them to work, and that they aren't present on DX9. I might be wrong though...

They're all being made in DX9 because my editor crashes in DX10 before I even get to load up a level.

So long as you can activate colorgrading (via console, config, or through the in-game menu by selecting very high options) you should be able to use them. Since my editor is out of commission in DX10, chances are this isn't going to change.

Of course, I'm trying to get these effects into another shader that doesn't require color-grading active in the TOD, so that they can be used in every map, regardless of whether or not color-grading is active. :)
