Well, if you are not planning to add iron sight, then such stuff (this doctor) would be great.

it's for backup if someone all of a sudden surprise u at close distance - a zoomed scope isn't very good for that u know ;) - the ACOG actully have a built in iron sight on top too for the same purpose

And its badass. :p

Mainly because the M110 is semi automatic so it should be at least a bit effective in cqb or ranges where you don't need any zoom, it would be different from other models on crymod and would be fun to use.

if you add the doctor sight onto the existing rail on the scope and fit the texture on the same sheet, you could put the "same" attachment twice and rig the ads to look through either the scope or reflex depending on which one it is. It would have absolutely no benefit over the magical crysis attachment switching, but it would be more realistic

yeah thats basically possible.. not making a doctor sight atm though..

currently doing stuff for my mod team (deadbydawn) and ive got a holographic sight in progress because i know that the weapon is lacking a CQB or midrange aiming device

next on my list is a bipod, but if you guys want i can make a doctor sight instead

I say bipod first, just so we have a nice and stable sniper, thats its primary job anyway.

btw the reason the sniper is beta is because the textures suck.. youve propably noticed that the inside of the scope doenst have a real texture at all (and a horrible seam) and that the silencer doesnt even have a proper diffuse

but no worries. i am working on my texturing skills and im going to try push out high(er) quality textures in the near future

I tested one thing just now, and concerning the LAM dot - it might be something with model - I replaced SCAR model with your model - as in only what's between <geometry></geometry> tags, and it didn't work - when I did the same with DSG1, it worked fine... So you might want to check it from that angle...

That is if you haven't resolved it on your side, If you did - on mine it still doesn't work.

Now, some other things - I think that default DSG sound is a bit... unfitting here - I'd probably expect something with less reverb and bass, but I'm no pro at this. If it's possible, I'd recommend getting some better samples, including SCAR silenced sound...

And lastly, concerning the scope - I tested it at some extreme distances, and the fall is too big so to speak. No, wait, let me rephrase it. The fall is OK, but the fourth level of zoom is a bit unnescessary IMHO.

I don't know what the distance exactly was, but korean soldier on fourth level of zoom fitted the top of the SVD scale more or less, and... Screw it, look at the screen:

Image

The background is the view on the cafe (marked by red circle), if you want to know estimated distance and height from which the shot was made.
The scopes show a soldier on an SVD scale (left) and where you have to aim for a bullet to fall at his location (right). Both are at 4th level zoom.
I don't know about you, But i wonder whether this is supposed to work like this... And what's the use of a reticle, since, you know... You still have to aim using intuition.

Apart from those:
Excellent work :] The rifle is - so to speak - "awesum" ;), and It definitely stays in my game folder.
(Now if there were some more maps where you could use it properly >.< I already have M107, r700 and this, and so little maps/spots where you can exploit fully their potential >.<)

ah yes i am infact looking to create custom firing sounds... and by "create" i mean rip them off someones youtube video or something, because i agree. the DSG sound is too hard for normal fire, and the silenced scar sound is too soft for silenced fire. the problem is that there arent many sources where i could get proper quality effects, but im working on that.

as for the zoom, i was supposed to bring the amount of zoom stages down to 2, but it seems i forgot that before release :)

and the 50x zoom is really just because i wanted to see if i could count the pores on a koreans face from 300 meters. its impractical, unrealistic, and zoom stages destroy the purpose of the SVD scale anyway.. (im propably going to remove the SVD crosshair and replace it with a replica of the real M110 crosshair)

just a quick update before i go sleep:

did some texturing stuff today. added lots of scratches to the diffuse. also arranged my layers so now i can pretty much apply any camo i want to it and it will work without any tweaking, which is pretty cool.

heres what i made to test my setup:
Image

found the camo in my random stuff folder.. if im not mistaken, its mystichobo's atacs camo.

if anyone wants a camo done, just post a tileable camo pattern here and ill whip up a .dds file for you :)
