Here's the breakdown of our sessions and speakers:

Building 3-Dimensional UI for VR

This session talks about the design, as well as technical challenges of building 3D User Interfaces using traditional game development pipelines of modeling and animation. The main areas covered are: the design process of creating 3D menus, the various interaction methods available for VR, and the technical challenges of rendering UI in a 3D renderer.

Virtual Reality and Real Audio

Immersive audio for VR, the old set of 'Smoke and Mirrors' used in 2D design is being replaced with 3D audio a true paradigm shift.

Audio must 'Make and not Break' immersion. After years of 2D, 360 degree sound, 50% of what has been done in audio no longer works and a new approach is needed.
The speakers will explain and demonstrate new design techniques, developed in VR demonstration projects that have been adopted in AAA-VR project (to be announced pre VRDC). Share experience of asset creation, implementation and mixing in a 3D binaural audio environment.

Being a writer for a game is not easy. The necessity of your existence is often questioned as the rest of your team mates secretly think that they all can do whatever ythey think you're doing. And just as our heroes feel like things are changing for the better... Meet non-US writers whose native tongue just happens to be a completely different language than the de facto industry standard English is.
This panel will focus on the unique challenges of being a non-US based game writer. Our diverse cast of speakers will answers questions about the advantages and disadvantages of being born in another country where the culture and language might be completely different.
