Indie Development Fund: What happens next?

Update on submission and voting deadlines as well as the selection process.

The submissions to our Indie Development Fund have now been open for 3 weeks, and we couldn’t be more excited about how our community has embraced it. With 17 submissions to date, as well as a lot of excitement around all of these games on social media, this new initiative has certainly hit the ground running. With that in mind, we want to share a few more dates and details with you regarding the process for the first round of voting.

Submission deadline

Submissions for the first round of the CRYENGINE Indie Development Fund ends this Friday, September 9th at 11:59pm CEST. Any submissions after this date will not be eligible to receive a grant during this round.

The voting process

In the spirit of our community-focused “Pay What You Want” business model, we want to directly involve our users in the process. That is why the community will directly vote which game will get our first ever development grant. All you have to do is go to the gallery page of the project you want to support and like it on the right side of the screen. And if you want others to vote for it as well, you can easily share the project page via social media.

Voting for the first round of the CRYENGINE Indie Development Fund ends on Friday, September 23rd at 11:59pm CEST.

Additional grant recipients will be selected by the CRYENGINE Team

While the community will vote a recipient of the dev grant every three months, there are many more projects that are deserving of our support. This is why we at Crytek will select additional winners based on the quality of the work, its ambition and innovation. So no worries if the community did not vote for you- we may still be blown away by your submission and reward it with a grant! We will announce the full list of winners and the amounts granted towards the end of the month.

Keep in mind that any game that does not receive a grant this round is eligible for resubmission in the future when they have more to show.

Help the Indie Development Fund grow

While we have kickstarted the indie Development Fund with $1m of our own money, we want this initiative to be community-driven in the long run. That is why all CRYENGINE users can choose to make a contribution to the fund themselves. All you have to do is go to our Contribute page and select the amount of money you want to chip in as well as how you want to split it between the fund and Crytek (keep in mind that a minimum of 30% of all contributions will always go to Crytek to support the ongoing development of CRYENGINE).
