CRYENGINE Master Class: Wavicle

In our latest CRYENGINE Master Class, we’re taking a look at our new particle tool, Wavicle. Want to create realistic effects like explosions, smoke, and fire? Then read on!

Designed to offer more power and flexibility for designers and optimized for contemporary CPU and memory architectures, Wavicle can help you make particle effects with real impact. The new system has been implemented with a modular design which enables the rapid design and iteration of effects which interact with the rest of the engine through attribute passing. It also includes seamless switching between a CPU and GPU particle pipeline which gives a big boost to particle performance, particularly when creating large-scale, fluid-like effects. 

To introduce you to all of the key features in the system, Engine Programmer Filipe Amin and Product Manager Collin Bishop have recorded a tutorial video which shows the workflow, power, and simplicity of the new system.     This is useful, would love to see a tutorial series in a practical example like more specific effects. Maybe Cinematic effects or something. Very cool, looking forward to more of these master classes
