Achieved with CRYENGINE, Automaton released their first gameplay trailer for the already-amazing-looking Mavericks: Proving Grounds at this year's E3 in Los Angeles and announced their upcoming closed beta while showing off the game to press.
Mavericks: Proving Grounds is a Battle Royale MMO tactical shooter from Automaton, who we are continuing our partnership with after the successful release of Deceit. Powered by CRYENGINE and using SpatialOS technology from Improbable, which you can access for CRYENGINE via GitHub, Mavericks will deliver an astonishing 400 player next gen Battle Royale game and will also feature a revolutionary 1000 player mode.
If you want to try out Mavericks for yourself, you can sign up for a chance to access the free closed beta at mavericks.gg/closed-beta. If you sign up before 11:59 p.m. PDT on June 17 you can also claim an exclusive E3 Content Pack that includes a unique in-game weapon skin and starter outfit.
Press Impressions at E3:
“An ambitious-as-hell Battle Royale with MMO aspirations…. It’s built using CryEngine, so it looks sharp.” – Game Informer
"Mavericks is defined by its ambition beyond familiar battle royale tropes…. In addition to the 1,000-player sandbox, the goal is to add single-player missions and objectives. The combination of SpatialOS with CryEngine should lead to a much more dynamic and smooth feeling battlefield that will organically encourage different play styles, from the sniper to the melee fanatic.” – Polygon
“The game is built on CryEngine, so despite being in an early alpha it already looks crisp and vibrant.” – Trusted Reviews
“There is huge potential in Mavericks, both as an online multiplayer shooter steeped in its own lore and narrative, and as a Battle Royale. If the closed betas and gradual launch can deliver on its promise of massive scale, unrivalled player numbers, and impressive core mechanics, then this could be something very special.” – Wired
