CRYENGINE Master Class: Setting up a sweet sci-fi sand dune with Quixel Megascans

CRYENGINE Master Class: Setting up a sweet sci-fi sand dune with Quixel Megascans

In our latest CRYENGINE Master Class, Crytek Senior Cinematic Artist, Joe Garth, shows you how to quickly create a stunning scene with Quixel Suite 2 from Megascans.

The in-depth tutorial shows you all the tips and tricks you need to know to rapidly create a beautiful, photo-realistic scene. The scene is created in CRYENGINE and Joe uses Quixel Suite 2 from Megascans, an automated texturing application which is a hugely powerful tool for artists. You can download a trial version from the Quixel website.

In the video, Joe takes you through every step required to create the scene, which features a crashed spaceship on a desert planet. In just under 40 minutes, you’ll find out how to create this scene in just a few hours as you pick up all the short cuts and know-how you need. You’ll also find out how to create and deploy high quality assets which don’t demand high performance.

By the end of the tutorial you will have learned how to create a beautifully finished, professional-level scene using Quixel Suite 2 with CRYENGINE, using the same techniques used in the development of our own titles at Crytek. It’s a great watch for any artist and developer.

This is our second tutorial showing you how to take advantage of Quixel technologies with CRYENGINE. Don’t forget to check out our first tutorial which shows you how to create a beautifully lit forest scene.

You can find out more about Quixel Suite 2 at the Megascans website. If you have feedback or comments, we’d love to hear your thoughts on FacebookTwitter and our forum. Stay tuned for more tutorials and if you’re inspired to create your own scene using these techniques, we’d love to see your work shared to us on the aforementioned channels. Get in touch!
