Introduction to Particle FX

You want to create your own fire-works but make sure you don’t light the house on fire? Just in time for New Year’s, we show you a bullet proof way to light up your screen! Today’s Master Class covers a comprehensive introduction to CRYENGINE V’s particle creation system, and shows you how to create explosions with impact.

The tutorial is released in two parts and takes you through every step of creating particles in CRYENGINE. The tutorials are hosted by Viktor Ikkes, Senior Cinematic Designer at Crytek, who has worked his magic on Crysis 3, Ryse: Son of Rome, Robinson: The Journey, and is currently on the team developing Hunt: Showdown. The video shows a battle-hardened workflow for working with particles in CRYENGINE, so you can use the same techniques that we use in the studio. In the first video Viktor creates a new particle explosion effect, and in the second video you’ll see how to create an effective cannon animation that reacts physically with the environment, using only the particle editor. Dive into the videos below and up your game with pro-grade techniques.
