Coming soon: Website update, Roadmap and the Indie Dev Fund

Today we want to give you an update on our website that will be going live very soon in preparation for the release of CRYENGINE 5.2. With a sexier homepage, easier sign up flow, and the highly anticipated roadmap and Indie Dev Fund galleries, this update has something for everyone.

Homepage

First up, the homepage itself got a facelift and now looks better than ever thanks to video featuring scenes from “Scrounger”, a short film made by talented artist Henrik Larsen . We hope to showcase other work coming from our community in this spot in the future, so let us know if you have any suggestions for this!

Scrolling down, you will also notice a prominent new “Getting Started” section to point any newcomers to CRYENGINE in the right direction.

Sign up flow

We have also significantly improved the sign up flow for new developers, making it easier than ever to get started with CRYENGINE. This goes hand in hand with our previously announced  update to the Launcher with its easier project creation and new templates.

Development Roadmap

Now this is a big one- after many requests from the community, we are for the first time ever releasing our development roadmap to the public, giving you unprecedented insights into our plans for the future of CRYENGINE. The roadmap is split into three columns, showing you what is tentatively scheduled for the next two builds, as well things we are hoping to do in the longer term. Please note that the roadmap entries are sorted by the internal team that is working on them, such as Animation, Core or Sandbox.

Indie Development Fund

After a delay, the all-new Indie Development Fund gallery is ready for business. Are you working on a promising indie game using CRENGINE? Then waste no time and let us know by applying as soon as the website is live. Every three months, we will award free cash grants to the most impressive submissions as a thank you for all the inspiration and support we receive from our community.

Coming up next: A new forum

We also wanted to give you a heads-up on another big change that will be coming further down the line: a new forum. Given the age of our venerable current forum, we have decided to replace it with a brand new one that will be solely focused on CRYENGINE V and its Pay What You Want business model. We will archive the current forum, and leave it online in read-only mode so you can always go back for the memories. We don’t have a fixed date for this yet, but will give you ample warning once we do.
